Airbus has awarded a contract to Comau Aerospace for the supply of the aircraft main assembly and test stations for the A319, A320 and A321 aircraft in Mobile, Alabama.
The contract will also include future expansion for the A320neo, a family of aircraft under development by Airbus.
Under the deal, Comau Aerospace will supply all jigs and tooling for the Mobile plant, with plans to open an integration centre that will provide full project support.
The new integration centre will be located near the Airbus plant in Alabama.
Comau Adaptive Solutions and Comau Aerospace chief operating officer Brad Pelachyk said that the company’s core competency is to create a solution that is right for its customer and see it through the entire process.
"We feel this is a strategic decision for both Comau and Airbus and we are pleased to have been selected as the full line integrator of this final assembly line," Pelachyk said.
