Citation X

Cessna Aircraft Company has announced the completion of all high-speed certification flights with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on Citation X, the company’s new long-range medium business jet aircraft.

According to Cessna, this development marks the conclusion of all testing requirements required to validate the business jet’s maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935, making Citation X the fastest civilian aircraft in the world.

Cessna Engineering senior vice-president Michael Thacker said that the high-speed testing of the new Citation X had been a success.

"All responses from the high-speed certification testing were well within the expected performance envelope," Thacker said.

"While these are the results our engineers fully anticipated, this final round of testing went so smoothly the conditions were completed in fewer flights and hours than planned."
