On 9 March, the Polish firm placed a firm order for eight Q400 NextGen airliners, with the first aircraft delivered two months later.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft president Mike Arcamone said that this latest order and others placed recently indicate that the Q400 NextGen aircraft is suitable for today’s tough market.

Since 2012, 15 new operators and leasing companies have placed their orders for Q400 aircraft, with five having acquired or ordered their aircraft in 2012, Arcamone noted.

Eurolot, which enrolled into Bombardier Commercial Aircraft’s ‘Smart Parts’ programme for the Q400 aircraft, receives competitive advanced component exchange and repair costs, as well as availability of key components from Bombardier through the deal.

Eurolot president and chief executive officer Mariusz Dabrowski said that the competitive operating costs of the aircraft would benefit further from the company’s participation in the ‘Smart Parts’ programme.

Q400 NextGen aircraft, which is optimised for short-haul operations, can accommodate up to 80 passengers and is considered a fuel-efficient turboprop.

With the latest order, the Canadian aircraft maker so far has booked firm orders for 460 Q400 and Q400 NextGen turboprops, which are in service with more than 40 operators in 33 countries globally.
