Mubadala

Mubadala Aerospace, Communications Technology and Defense Services (ACTDS) of Abu Dhabi has signed manufacturing and maintenance deals with aircraft engine companies Rolls-Royce and GE Aviation at the 2013 Dubai Airshow.

Under the new agreements, state-owned Mubadala will become approved components manufacturer for both the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB and GE Aviation GEnx engines.

Rolls-Royce Aerospace president Tony Wood said: "This is an exciting opportunity, which will significantly extend both our aerospace supply chain and aero engine support capabilities in the region."

GE Aviation president and CEO David Joyce added: "Mubadala is a vital partner to GE in the Middle East, and today’s announcements will ensure our GEnx engine customers in the region are fully supported."

While Rolls-Royce plans to source engine components worth about $500m over a ten year period from Mubadala once it has a manufacturing capability, GE Aviation also committed $500m in work packages.

Mubadala ACTDS has been working with GE since 2009, when the duo signed an initial agreement, making the Abu Dhabi company the first GEnx engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) network partner worldwide.
