The next-generation, high-resolution commercial Earth-imaging satellite system will provide geospatial situational awareness and global security information to military users and allow access to imagery for commercial users.

The spacecraft will also feature a new high-resolution camera from ITT, in development for more than two years.

The GeoEye-2 will support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s EnhancedView commercial imagery programme.

With the SRR completed, Lockheed will proceed with the preliminary design review phase due for completion later this year.
