Using the 13m antenna, Germany, Canada and other external users will be able to access important satellite data, and process and evaluate it.
DLR board chairman Johann-Dietrich Wörner said that for the first time, facilities of both countries will use their competencies together to receive Earth observation data at a shared location.
The location of the station enables the antenna to achieve long-duration, multiple daily contacts with all Earth observation satellites in polar orbits and ensures seamless data reception, which is important for the Tandem-X mission.
