The Indian Space and Research Organisation’s (ISRO) polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) will launch the Cartosat-2B and Alsat satellites into space in July, having previously suffered delays.

The 690kg Cartosat 2B, an Indian high-resolution remote-sensing satellite, will provide images for cartographic applications such as mapping, land information and geographical information systems, according to IANS.

Alsat is a 117kg Algerian satellite that will be launched along with Cartosat 2B from Sriharikota Spaceport in India.

The rocket will also carry three nanosatellites – NLS 6.1 and NLS 6.2 from Canada and Switzerland, and StudSat developed by Indian students.

The 44m-tall PSLV is a four-stage (engine) rocket powered alternatively by solid and liquid propellants.
