Globalstar has successfully completed installing hardware and software upgrades for its Satellite Operations and Control Center (SOCC).
The upgrades, provided by Thales Alenia Space, will support the 15-year lifespan of Globalstar’s new, second-generation satellite constellation.

The upgrades will enable the firm to administer increased second-generation satellite constellation mission operations command, support and control with minimal expert staffing as well as maximum task automation.
The new satellite constellation, also being built by Thales Alenia, will provide mobile satellite voice and data services to Globalstar customers beyond 2025.
The satellite is due for launch in either September or early October 2010.
