Nextant Aerospace has completed fitting a Williams International FJ44-3AP engine to a Beechjet 400A aircraft.
The aircraft, serial number RK-108, is the first of two aircraft to be used in the upcoming flight test programme for FAA certification of the engine upgrade under a supplemental type certificate (STC).

The fitting marks the final phase of the Beechjet 400A/XP upgrade programme replacing the previous Pratt & Whitney JT15D-5 engines with Williams FJ44-3APs.
The new computer with the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite will allow the 400NEXT to fly over 2,000nm (up from the present 1,333nm) and save 30% in operating costs based on fuel savings alone.
Nextant Aerospace president Jim Miller said that the mating was done on schedule and kept the programme on track for first flight in the next six weeks and certification in the first half of next year.
