The carrier is entering a period of the nacelle lifecycle that requires a more proactive approach to maintenance, according to Icelandair Technical Services senior vice-president Jens Bjarnsson.

Goodrich Prestwick Service Center general manager Steve Callan said that in addition to being the original equipment manufacturer on the RB211-535E4 thrust reverser, it had the largest pool of rotable and expendable inventory and fleet experience on the system.

Goodrich has been a part of the RB211-535 programme since the 1970s and continues to provide technical expertise, spare parts, and repair and overhaul support for RB211-535 nacelles currently in service.
