The Atlantis space shuttle has been approved for the STS-132 mission to the International Space Station (ISS), after completing a flight readiness review, and is set for launch on 14 May 2010.
Nasa space operations associate administrator, Bill Gerstenmaier, said: “We had a very thorough review today. We went through all the things that happened on the vehicle, both the shuttle and also the station.”

During the 12-day mission, Atlantis will deliver an integrated cargo carrier and a Russian-built mini research module to the station.
The mission will also involve three spacewalks, delivering spares to the ISS, replacing batteries and docking the mini research module.
