AugustaWestland has signed a €560m ($764m) contract with the Indian Government to deliver 12 AW101 helicopters.

The medium-weight AW101 can fly 30 passengers and three crew 500nm at a maximum cruise speed of 150kt.

Operated by the Indian Air Force the helicopters will mainly be used for government transportation duties.

The contract also includes a five-year logistic support service, and initial aircrew and technician training.
