The Brazilian National Police will acquire an undisclosed number of Heron unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)from Israel Aerospace Industries under a $350m deal.

The surveillance drones will monitor Brazil’s borders to aid in preventing the smuggling of arms, drugs and natural resources.

The company will deliver 14 systems, each including multiple drones and auxiliary equipment, according to the Associated Press.

Previously, the Israeli firm had conducted a demonstration of the UAVs in Brazil at the request of the nation’s police.
