Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines are to power ten A330 Aircraft for Virgin Atlantic under a new contract valued at $720m.
The engine is the only engine specifically built for the A330 that provides thrust of up to 72,000lb.

The Trent 700 features a second-generation wide chord fan blade, which is diffusion bonded and super-plastically formed, offering better protection from foreign object damage.
Virgin Atlantic will receive an enhanced-performance version of the Trent 700 for the A330 that improves engine fuel burn by a further 1.3%.
The ten A330s to be powered by Rolls-Royce engines will include six A330s ordered by Virgin Atlantic and four provided by aircraft-leasing company AerCap.
