The resupply vehicle, built by SP Korolev Rocket & Space Corporation—Energia, is an automated, unpiloted variant of the Soyuz spacecraft that supplies cargo and fuel to the ISS.

The cargo vehicle is also used to raise the station’s altitude and control its orientation using the vehicle’s thrusters.
The cargo ship is carrying over 2.5t of freight including fuel, scientific equipment, water, medicine and clothing for the space station crew.
The vehicle was launched on 15 October 2009.
