Uzbekistan has approved plans to buy six Boeing and ten Airbus airliners in lend-leasing deals worth a total of $1.14bn.

Uzbekistan Airways, the state-owned national carrier will receive six Airbus A320 jetliners under a 2007 contract and four more will be delivered by 2016 through another deal signed in 2008.

In separate contracts with Boeing, the carrier will take delivery of four 767-300 aircraft by 2013 and two 787 Dreamliners in 2014.

Presently, Uzbek Airways flies a fleet of Boeing, Airbus, British-made RJ85 and Russian-made aircraft to over 40 destinations in the world.
