Rolls-Royce may face multiple compensation claims in the aftermath of the A380 engine scare, which resulted in Qantas suspending all A380 flights.
A spokesperson for Airbus announced that the company would seek full financial compensation from Rolls-Royce for any costs arising from failures of the Trent 900 engine, selected by some airlines for the A380.
A380s operated by Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Lufthansa were grounded following an engine blow-out on a Qantas flight from Singapore, with the three carriers also expected to seek compensation.
Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce had previously predicted that the British-based manufacturer would have to replace half of the global stable of 80 Trent 900 engines.
