Rolls-Royce has secured contracts worth around $2.2bn from International AirFinance (IAFC) and Saudi Arabia’s national carrier Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) for Trent 700 engines.

The company will deliver Trent 700 engines to IAFC’s 20 Airbus A330 Regional aircraft, which will be leased to Saudia.

In June, Saudia and IAFC signed a deal with Airbus for 20 A330 and 30 A320-200 aircraft.

Saudia, which currently operates 12 A330 aircraft, will become the launch operator of the A330-300 Regional.

"We are pleased to be once again operating the Trent 700 for our latest aircraft."

The airline has awarded a $1.3bn contract to Rolls-Royce to provide engine service support for the A330 Regional aircraft.

Rolls-Royce will supply its TotalCare service for the A330 fleet, powered by the Trent 700 engines.

Saudia director general Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser said: "We are pleased to be once again operating the Trent 700 for our latest aircraft.

"It offers excellent performance and reliability."

Over the last three years, the Trent 700 has been selected for more than 60% of new A330 aircraft purchases, and for around 90% of A330 freighters in service and on order. It is said to be the largest in-service Trent engine at present.

Rolls-Royce stated that more than 1,500 Trent 700 engines are in-service or under firm orders.
