Rockwell Collins has launched a new flight tracking solution, ARINC MultiLink, for airlines worldwide.
Combining multiple data sources, the solution is said to easily report the location of an aircraft anywhere in the world.
ARINC MultiLink amalgamates ADS-C, high-frequency data link (HFDL) performance data, ADS-B, US aircraft situation display to industry (ASDI) radar data, EUROCONTROL position information and aircraft communications addressing and reporting system (ACARS) position reports.
Rockwell Collins information management services senior vice-president Jeff Standerski said: "In today’s global aviation environment, no single source of data is sufficient to track aircraft globally.
"By merging multiple data sources, many of which airlines already receive, we can automatically select the right combination of data feeds to allow airlines to pinpoint an aircraft’s location anywhere in the world, in the most economical way."
According to Rockwell Collins, the tool was designed to adapt future third-party data sources as well.

By GlobalDataUsing a Rockwell Collins’ algorithm, the ARINC MultiLink provides accurate and reliable position reporting of an aircraft more frequently.
The HFDL capability of the tool enables delivering network data to Rockwell Collins and use with other data sources.
Rockwell Collins GLOBALink programmes and services management director Tim Ryan said: "Our ability to merge HFDL network performance data with multiple data sources results in a more robust and truly global aircraft tracking capability."
ARINC MultiLink will be provided as an add-on with the company’s ARINC OpCenter / WebASD or Hermes / Skyview products and as a data feed that can be streamed to the carrier’s situational display solution.
