The improvement can be achieved by using data consolidated from a wide range of sources, including live flight updates from the Airport Operational Database and other stakeholders, such as airlines.

The data, which is updated in real-time, provides the airport staff with the ability to effectively manage passenger journeys.

The system combines real-time information with a number of airport trend data, such as how early passengers tend to arrive at the airport, how long it takes to walk through the terminal and how much time a traveller requires to pass through each checkpoint.

The result obtained is a simple graphic display that highlights the peak passenger wait times at Keflavík International Airport.

"Our Beontra OTP tool enables our airport customers to improve the effectiveness and productivity of their terminals to benefit both passengers and personnel."

Leidos Civil Group president Angie Heise said: “Our Beontra OTP tool enables our airport customers to improve the effectiveness and productivity of their terminals to benefit both passengers and personnel.

“Using predictive airport management and data analysis tools reduces the challenges faced by our customers and results in a better traveller experience.”

Keflavík airport, which handles about seven million passengers each year, requires accurate resource planning, particularly around security control to ensure that staffing levels reflect the volume of passengers that use the airport terminal throughout the day.

Displaying real-time information, a reporting dashboard will help the airport staff improve the planning of existing resources and reduce passenger wait times at immigration.
