Delta is the first airline to offer kiosks at LAX while its competitors, such as American Airlines and United Airlines, have delayed installation at their respective terminals due to airport renovation projects.

"We knew we needed to get these kiosks in as soon as possible and we have been able to act quickly."

The new kiosks are part the company’s plan to reduce waiting times for passport and customs clearance.

Delta managed to install the kiosks in time for peak travel season and their unveiling also coincides with the company’s plans to start flights from LAX to London Heathrow from 26 October.

Delta managing director Ranjan Goswami said: "The funding process was taking too long on the government side. We knew we needed to get these kiosks in as soon as possible and we have been able to act quickly."
