Munich Airport International (MAI) and Citiri, a provider of operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) project management software, are set to partner to deliver digital ORAT services to airport operators and infrastructure developers.
By integrating MAI’s expertise and Citiri’s management platform, the partners aim to provide an improved ORAT solution, including remote services, to consumers globally.
The solution will offer services to any airport operator, authority or investor who plans to execute an airport development project, including the construction of a new airport or an extension of current infrastructure.
MAI managing director Dr Ralf Gaffal said: “ORAT was born in Munich in 1992 when Munich Airport relocated to its current site in an unprecedented overnight operation. Over the past 30 years, we have successfully delivered more than 40 ORAT programmes worldwide and have improved and refined the process for the benefit of our customers continuously.
“Partnering with Citiri will allow us to digitalise the ORAT process to help our customers save money and time during the construction phase and to realise more value over the life of the development and activation project.”
The airport claims to be the first in the world to create and install the ORAT process.
This process helps in addressing the problem of postponements, expense-overruns and value-leakage on extensive airport construction projects.
Citing studies, MAI stated that a professionally handled ORAT process can lead to ‘significant savings and risk mitigation’ during the execution of an infrastructure development project.
Several airports and airlines globally have adopted this framework.
At present, Citiri’s clients include Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA).
In March, autonomous driving technology firm Argo AI selected Munich Airport’s LabCampus innovation centre for testing and developing its vehicles.
