UK’s support services and construction company Interserve has secured a passenger £37m support contract from Spanish airports operator AENA.

The four-year-long contract includes providing assistance for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM) for AENA’s main airports located in the Canary Islands.

Additionally, Interserve will be responsible for transporting passengers through the airports and assisting them with check-in, boarding and luggage collection.

The company’s assistance for PRM encompasses busy tourist airports in the Canary Islands, including Tenerife Sur, as well as Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Tenerife Norte and La Palma.

AENA manages 46 airports and two heliports across the country and welcomed more than 230 million passengers in 2016.

It also provides support in managing 16 international airports outside Spain.
