With the aim of providing additional services to civil airlines and operators, as well as to UAE’s air force, the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has received a major extension for their PRISMA system, including additional ATC tower equipment for Al Ain International Airport in the East of the UAE.
At the beginning of July 2010, GCAA started to additionally offer services to military clients making the integration of specific, air force-typical procedures necessary. This undertaking required the introduction of a new sector, Al Ain approach, and the modification of the presentation of flight plans in order to reflect the requirements of the armed forces.
The new components were tailored for the installation at Al Ain tower and were fully integrated with the main ATC system in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Centre. Software extensions include a comprehensive adaption of safety nets incorporating the new approach and extra features such as alternate SSR codes, and flight plan splits.
As for controllers all new features and procedures can be practised at GCAA’s state-of-the-art training facility, which is a replica of the operational Prisma ATM automation solution, and was established at the Sheikh Zayed Centre premises in 2009.
The air navigation service provider from the Middle East and the German ATC expert connect a thriving track record of joint projects which has led into a fruitful partnership. GCAA’s latest order is another endorsement of COMSOFT’s products.
