Vinci noted that Level 3 accreditation has been obtained by its Nantes Atlantique (NTE), Saint-Nazaire (SNR), Rennes Bretagne (RNS), Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne (CFE), Grenoble Alpes Isère (GNB), Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc (CMF), and Toulon Hyères (TLN) airports.

Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) in France has been awarded ACA level 4+ accreditation, which is said to be the highest level in the programme.

The airport operator said that the accreditations obtained underline the transformation across its network towards ‘Net Zero Carbon Emissions’.

It has also set a target of achieving this at its Toulon-Hyères airport by 2023 and by 2026 at Lyon airport.

Vinci Airports president and Vinci Concessions CEO Nicolas Notebaert said: “The IPCC reports are clear: we must reduce greenhouse gas emissions immediately and on a large scale.

“Vinci Airports has chosen to set an example by achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions for our operations in France in 2023 at Toulon Hyères airport. It is by taking concrete action to reduce our emissions and those of our users that we will succeed together in decarbonizing air mobility.”

The company added that the solutions deployed are common at all its airports’ network, which enabled it to reduce direct emissions by 28% since 2018.

Last week, Vinci Airports completed the acquisition of Fintech Advisory’s 29.99% interest in Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte in a deal valued at $1.17bn.
