Health and wellness company XpresSpa has signed a contract with Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) to provide Covid-19 screening and testing at Newark Liberty International Airport in the US.

In June, XpresSpa opened the Covid-19 testing facility, XpresCheck, at Terminal 4 of JFK International Airport.

XpresSpa is currently constructing a testing facility in the airport’s Terminal B that will have six separate testing rooms with the capacity to administer more than 350 tests each day.

The company aims to provide its testing services to airline employees, contractors and workers, as well as concessionaires and their employees, TSA officers, and US Customs and Border Protection agents.

XpresSpa CEO Doug Satzman said: “We are thrilled to be launching in Newark Liberty International Airport next week, which will be our second XpresCheck testing facility in the NY Metro area.

“We are also hopeful that we can bring XpresCheck to additional US airports over time, leveraging our learnings to date in setting up and administering a testing facility so that we can do our part to keep safe those who work in the airline industries, as well as travellers.

“We began Covid-19 testing at JFK on 22 June using a ‘soft opening’ approach that enabled us to fine-tune our processes and have since been very encouraged by our traction and building momentum.

“To bring increased awareness to our JFK testing site, we embarked on a multifaceted marketing campaign targeting both airport employers and employees that has resulted in raising our daily testing volume.”

The facility is expected to begin operations next week.

Last December, Fraport USA secured a five-year contract to design and manage concessions operations at Terminal B of Newark Liberty International Airport in New York.
