EADS company Eurocopter is to launch a cost-cutting plan, and may also scale down production targets for 2010 and 2011.

The need for the plan arose following the drop in the number of orders received by the firm, Les Echos reports.

The firm intends to cut down on support costs, avoiding the need for lay-offs, however, a voluntary redundancy scheme may be put in place.

Eurocopter recently signed an agreement with Kazakhstan to cooperate on the development of helicopter operations in the nation.
