Raytheon has pledged a new greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction goal as an industry partner in the US Environmental Protection Agency’s voluntary Climate Leaders programme, a goal-setting initiative.
The US aerospace firm intends to reduce its absolute US emissions by 10% between 2008 and 2015.

Raytheon successfully achieved its first GHG goal of reducing GHG emissions from its US operations by 33% between 2002 and 2009, normalised for revenue and adjusted for inflation.
The firm met and exceeded its reduction goal by reducing its emissions by 38% normalised for revenue and adjusted for inflation by the end of 2008, one year ahead of schedule.
Raytheon implemented an aggressive energy conservation programme by completing hundreds of energy conservation-efficiency projects such as upgrading chillers, boilers and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
The company also installed high-efficiency and sensor-controlled lighting, converted to variable-speed drives for motors, pumps and fans.
