Aerospace Systems Engineering students from the University of Hertfordshire have developed a unmanned air system (UAS) for £2,500.

The UAS with a wing span of 3.5m can reach a maximum speed of 70kts and can identify objects from great heights, according to Eureka.

The air system has been built out of the cheapest possible materials to bring down costs and minimise waste.

School of Engineering and Technology senior lecturer Dr Rashid Ali said the students designed it to be versatile and to provide the basis for further development.
