Bombardier orders for regional jets from Mesa Air could take a hit, as the US airline is filing for bankruptcy.
Mesa’s order for ten CRJ 700s was last year deferred for delivery to 2013, but they exist unchanged in the Bombardier Aerospace backlog, according to Bombardier spokesman John Arnone.

Mesa Air has 52 of its 130 planes parked and needs to reduce its fleet to eliminate costs associated with retaining, maintaining and storing excess aircraft.
Bombardier says that it was not aware of Mesa’s bankruptcy filing, however, it had been in discussions with the carrier on potential restructuring outside of bankruptcy.
Arnone was quoted by Reuters as saying that Bombardier worked with Mesa regularly and would continue to do so while the carrier restructured, and that they were monitoring the situation closely.
“These are tough times in the aviation industry, and we have seen some of our customers come out of bankruptcy protection stronger and better equipped to deal with their challenges,” he said.
