TAM airlines has ordered 25 Airbus aircraft, confirming a memorandum of understanding (MoU) announced at ILA Berlin Air Show in June 2010.

The order includes the purchase of 20 A320 family and five A350-900s to serve on the carrier’s existing routes.

TAM’s new A320 family aircraft will replace existing A320 family aircraft to keep the airline’s average fleet age at six years.

The A320 family includes the A318, A319, A320 and A321 single aisle aircraft that can carry up to 185 passengers a maximum distance of 3,700nm at Mach 0.82.

The A350-900s ordered by the airline will be able to fly 314 passengers a distance of up to 8,100nm at Mach 0.85.
