The space system comprises an optical satellite capable of capturing images with a resolution of 2.5m, associated ground control, image receiving and processing stations.
Astrium will also provide cooperation and training programmes for Vietnamese engineers.
The image receiving and processing terminals will be integrated into Vietnam’s existing ENRMS monitoring station, a multisatellite ground facility operated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
The programme results from the Vietnamese Government’s effort to create a space infrastructure to observe climate change, predict and prevent natural disasters, and optimise the management of its natural resources.
