German-based carrier Lufthansa has selected the CFM International CFM56-5B engine for the 21 Airbus A320 and two A321 aircraft ordered in September.
The company placed a $300m order for CFM56 engines made jointly by GE Aviation and Snecma.

The engines will power 21 Airbus A320 and two Airbus A321 single-aisle aircraft operated by Lufthansa Airlines and Swiss International.
The engines are scheduled for delivery from 2013 to late 2014.
Lufthansa is part of the Lufthansa Aviation Group.
