
China’s privately owned airline Xiamen Airlines has awarded a contract to UTC Aerospace Systems to supply the wheels and carbon brakes for its new fleet of six Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
UTC Aerospace Systems will supply the equipment through its Wheels & Brakes business in Troy, Ohio, US.

The first aircraft is due for delivery in July 2014.
The 787-8 carbon brakes use DURACARB carbon heat sink material that provides enhanced brake performance and a 35% brake life advantage, compared with similar products, while being cost-effective for operators.
Xiamen Airlines Maintenance and Engineering division general manager Tang Jianqi said that due to the new technology of the 787 electric brake, electro-mechanical braking experience was a critical factor in our supplier selection.
"We have confidence that UTC Aerospace Systems will provide us their 787 electric brake products with the highest in performance and reliability," Jianqi said.

Established in 1984, Xiamen Airlines operates most of its scheduled passenger flights out of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport.
UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of Connecticut-based United Technologies, is engaged in designing, manufacturing and servicing of integrated systems and components for the aerospace and defense sectors.
