US-based UTC Aerospace Systems has secured a contract to provide wheels and carbon brakes for Russian airline Aeroflot’s new fleet of 50 Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft.
The US company will supply the equipment through its Wheels & Brakes division in Troy, Ohio, with the first aircraft scheduled to be delivered in September 2013.

With DURACARB carbon heat sink material, the 737 latest carbon brakes offer better brake performance and a 35% brake life advantage compared with competitive products.
The wheels and carbon brakes deliver a weight savings of nearly 700lb per aircraft, compared with other high-capacity steel brakes.
UTC Wheels & Brakes commercial programmes vice-president Cory May said: "We are pleased to provide Aeroflot with a lower total cost of ownership for their 737 Next Generation fleet."
Aeroflot Russian Airlines technical director Igor Parakhin added: "We look forward to realising the benefits associated with their brake life advantage on our new 737-800 Next Generation fleet," Parakhin added.
