
Communications and aviation electronics solutions provider Rockwell Collins has been awarded a contract by European aircraft manufacturer Airbus to supply the rudder/brake pedal assembly for the A350 XWB family of jets.
Rockwell Collins commercial systems executive vice president and chief operating officer Kent Statler said: "This win tops off a comprehensive suite of offerings for the A350 XWB, which represents the most content we’ve ever had on an Airbus platform."

Featuring advanced aerodynamics, design and technologies, A350 XWB is a line of mid-size wide-body jets, and according to Airbus, will offer a 25% reduction in fuel consumption and decreased operating costs compared with rival aircraft in the segment.
Scheduled to enter service in 2014, the A350 XWB has logged more than 600 firm orders from operators worldwide.
In 2008, Airbus selected Rockwell Collins to provide communications, information management, landing and navigation systems for the A350 XWB airliners.
The $2.5bn contract included information management and navigation capabilities, integrated communication global work package, the avionics data network, landing guidance systems and the trimmable horizontal stabilizer actuator (THSA).

By GlobalDataRockwell Collins’ information management onboard solution is a hosting platform for flight operations, aircraft maintenance and airline applications, and includes a standard class-2 electronic flight bag interface.
The navigation system components comprises the ADF-900 automatic direction finder, DME-2100 distance measuring equipment and the VOR-900 VHF omnidirectional radio receiver for the A350 XWBs.
