Eurolot Operations and Technical vice-president Bartlomiej Matusewicz said the delivery signals the beginning of the carrier’s fleet renewal and replacement programme, as it is accelerating its expansion with new regional routes.
"Bombardier’s Q400 NextGen aircraft will allow us to cover more ground and gain more market access and we’re honoured to be the first airline to introduce the aircraft to the Polish community," Matusewicz added.
Eurolot’s contract with Bombardier, worth about $246m at list prices, which also includes options for an additional 12 of the Q400 airliners, is expected to increase to $625m following the delivery of 20 ordered planes.
The Polish carrier’s fleet comprises three Embraer 175 jets, two for the Polish government, while the Q400 aircraft will replace its ageing 46 to 64-seat turboprops of ATR.
