Boeing has announced the delivery of a 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft to GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) for lease to Ethiopian Airlines, marking the airline’s first 777-300ER and the largest aircraft in its fleet.
Ethiopian Airline’s new 777-300ER has a capacity to accommodate 400 passengers in a two-class configuration.
It provides the carrier with improved capacity and operating economics on vital routes from its base in Addis Ababa.
Ethiopian Airlines chief operation officer Mesfin Tassew said: "The aircraft will be deployed on our long haul non-stop routes to the US and China and will give us exceptional range capability and fuel efficiency."
An additional three 777-300ERs will join the airline’s fleet in the coming months.
Boeing’s 777-300ER is capable of flying up to 7,825nm and is powered with GE90-115B engines.
