Ethiopian Airlines

Boeing has announced the delivery of a 777-300ER (Extended Range) aircraft to GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) for lease to Ethiopian Airlines, marking the airline’s first 777-300ER and the largest aircraft in its fleet.

Ethiopian Airline’s new 777-300ER has a capacity to accommodate 400 passengers in a two-class configuration.

It provides the carrier with improved capacity and operating economics on vital routes from its base in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Airlines chief operation officer Mesfin Tassew said: "The aircraft will be deployed on our long haul non-stop routes to the US and China and will give us exceptional range capability and fuel efficiency."

An additional three 777-300ERs will join the airline’s fleet in the coming months.

Boeing’s 777-300ER is capable of flying up to 7,825nm and is powered with GE90-115B engines.

The aircraft feature the Boeing Signature Interior that provides wider seats, wider aisles and more headroom, as well as more seating flexibility.

Ethiopian Airlines’ current fleet comprises nearly 50 Boeing jets, including Next-Generation 737s, 757s, 767s and 777s, as well as 787 Dreamliners.
