A330

Air Namibia has taken delivery of an A330-200 from Airbus, the first of two A330 aircraft being leased by the airline from US lessor Intrepid.

The airline’s new A330 comprises a two-class cabin layout with a capacity to accommodate 244 passengers, including 30 business class seats and 214 economy class seats.

Air Namibia managing director Theopoltina Namases said: "With an aircraft we know to be both reliable and comfortable, it will offer the best flight experience to our passengers."

Air Namibia began commercial services with its first Airbus aircraft in 2006 with an A340-300 aircraft, and currently operates four A319s on regional routes and two A340-300s on Windhoek to Frankfurt, the airline’s flagship service.

Airbus Customers chief operating officer John Leahy added: "The unique fleet commonality between Airbus aircraft families allows the A330 to fit seamlessly into Air Namibia’s existing fleet.

"We are delighted to welcome Air Namibia as a new A330 operator."

The A330 Family, which includes Freighter, VIP, and Military Transport/Tanker versions, currently has more than 1,250 orders, with in excess of 1,000 aircraft used by nearly 100 operators worldwide.

According to Airbus, the A330 is one of the most efficient aircraft worldwide with improved operating economics.
