
Mexican airliner Aeromexico has placed a $6bn firm order for 60 Boeing 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 variants, with an option to purchase an additional 30 aeroplanes.
The latest order is a part of the airline’s commitment announced on 25 July 2012 for purchasing the aircraft.

Powered by CFM’s Leap-1B engines, 737 MAX is a new-engine variant of Boeing’s Next-Generation 737s.
Featuring improvements to the advanced technology winglet, the 737 MAX variant will reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 13%, and according to the Chicago-based aircraft manufacturer, will offer an 8% operating cost advantage over future competition.
To date, Boeing has received 938 orders for the 737 MAX variant, which is scheduled to enter service in 2017 and manufactured in Renton, US.
Boeing Commercial Airplanes Latin America, Africa & Caribbean sales vice president Van Rex Gallard said the order would enable Aeromexico to continue as its country’s leading carrier.

Aeromexico, a subsidiary of Grupo Aeromexico, operates an all-Boeing fleet of aeroplanes for capacities above 100 passengers.
From its main hub outside the Mexico City International Airport, Grupo Aeromexico operates more than 550 daily flights to cities in Mexico, the US, Canada, central and South America, as well as to Europe and Asia.
