Aeromexico chief executive officer Andres Conesa said that the acquisition of these Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, part of the 100 aircraft announced earlier this year represented a fundamental step that strengthens the position of Grupo Aeromexico.

The aeroplanes are expected to be delivered in summer 2013 and Aeromexico plans to use the new 787s to replace the ageing aircraft on its European, Asian and South American routes

With the latest order, the carrier will have 19 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet.

Made of lightweight composite materials instead of aluminium in the fuselage and wings, the 787 features improved aerodynamics and advanced engine technology.
