GE and AVIC Systems have been chosen to provide avionics core processing, display and on-board maintenance systems for Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China’s (COMAC) newly introduced C919 single-aisle aircraft.

GE AVIC will provide avionics integration for the C919 through the proposed joint venture between them.

The C919 modular avionics system will be the central information system of the aircraft’s networks and electronics, and will perform the avionics, maintenance and utility functions.

COMAC chairman Zhang Qingwei said the C919 aircraft will use 12-15% less fuel and help reduce carbon emissions.

The C919 150-passenger aircraft is expected to enter commercial service in 2016.
