Space freighter Progress M-06M has finally docked with the international space station after an initial glitch.

The spacecraft, designated ISS Progress 38, has flown 1,918lb of propellant, 110lb of oxygen, 220lb of water, and 2,667lb of experimental equipment, spare parts and other supplies to the station.

An earlier docking attempt was aborted on 2 July 2010 when communication between the cargo craft and the space station was lost about 25 minutes before its planned docking.

The cause of the abort has been traced to the activation of the TORU “Klest” TV transmitter, and it has not been activated for the present docking process.

Progress 38 is the 40th cargo vehicle to reach the station.
