Turkish Aerospace Industries has selected Microtechnica to provide the environmental control system for the Hurkus, the first trainer aircraft designed and built in Turkey.
Microtecnica will design and manufacture a complete environmental control system for the new aircraft.
The system will use bleed air from the Hurkus’s turboprop engine to pressurise, ventilate and heat the cabin, while a separate vapour cycle compressor will provide cooling to the aircraft.
A prototype system is due to be completed in late 2010, and the delivery of the first Hurkus aircraft is expected for 2011.
Being developed primarily for the Turkish Air Force, the Hurkus will also be marketed worldwide as a civil aircraft suitable for civilian flight training.
