Emirates has ordered 32 additional A380 airliners from Airbus for $11.5bn, adding to its current fleet of 58.
Emirates group chairman and CEO Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said the latest order affirmed Emirates’ strategy to become a world-leading carrier and to further establish Dubai as a central gateway for worldwide air travel.
Emirates currently operates ten aircraft and serves eight international destinations including London, UK; Toronto, Canada; and Paris, France.
The A380 is capable flying up to 525 passengers a distance of 8,200nm at speeds of up to Mach 0.89.
