Airports in Dubai will ban older aircraft from 31 October as part of its silent airport project to reduce noise pollution and curb emissions.
Chapter 1 and 2 aircraft classified by the International Civil Aviation Organisation will be banned from operating cargo flights at Dubai International from 31 October 2010.
Passenger flights in those classes will be banned from 27 March 2011, consistent with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) seasonal schedule change.
These aircraft will be allowed to continue operations at Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport until 1 April 2012.
The number of public announcements made in all three terminals will also be curtailed as part of the project.
Dubai’s airports will enhance the quality and presentation of data on flight information display screens located throughout the airport to ensure a smooth transition for passengers.
