Luxembourg airline Luxair has ordered a next-generation 737-800 airliner from Boeing for $77m.
The aircraft will add to the air carrier’s three operational 737-700s and one 737-800.
LuxairGroup president and CEO Adrien Ney said the 737-800 has the right size and range to optimise operations for its tour operator LuxairTours.
The single-aisle jetliner, with a range of 3,115nm and speed of Mach 0.78, will fly 189 passengers in a single-class configuration.
Featuring blended winglet technology to reduce drag, the new 737-800 consumes less fuel and decreases CO2 emissions by up to 4%.
The new aircraft also incorporates a combination of airframe and engine improvements that will reduce fuel consumption by a further 2% by 2011.
