The satellite will be based on Orbital’s STAR-2 platform and features 36 active transponders.

Hybrid Ku and C-band payloads on the satellite enable services to Azerbaijan, Central Asia, Europe and Africa.

Orbital will also provide the ground systems for the spacecraft, which will be positioned in a geosynchronous orbit (GEO) at 46° E longitude.

The firm will undertake in-orbit testing and once complete, will hand over operational control to the ministry.
