The black box has been recovered from the crash site of the Air India Boeing 737-800 plane that killed 158 people in Mangalore, India, on 22 May.
The digital flight data recorder, or black box, will provide clues into the cause of the crash that occurred when the aircraft plunged into a valley after landing and skidding off the runway at Bajpe Airport.
Speculation is still rife as to the cause of the crash, which could include human error and the length of the runway.
Only eight of the 166 on the aircraft survived the crash and the bodies of all the deceased have been recovered, although DNA testing will be required to establish the identity of some victims.
Preliminary investigation of the navigational, aerodrome and runway facilities available at the time of the accident have been completed.
Analysis of the black box and flight data may take up to two weeks.
