Airbus has sold 60 and delivered 122 aircraft in the first quarter of 2010, surpassing the numbers for the same quarter of the previous year.

There were 22 gross orders and 116 deliveries in the first quarter of 2009, according to Reuters.

No orders were cancelled between January and March this year.

Deliveries included three A380 Superjumbos and the firm plans to sell at least 20 of the planes in 2010.

Despite a sharp fall in orders, 2009 saw record production for Airbus due to the time it takes to build planes ordered during a previous boom.

The latest order tally showed 49 aircraft sold in March 2010 including 25 A350-900s for United Airlines and 24 A330s for Malaysia Airlines, Hong Kong Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines.
